DukaKonnect

Many small shops in Kenya still run on a paper daybook and the owner’s memory.

The problem

Duka owners know their business well. What they lack is a reliable record of each day, and one they can show a lender.

02

What I built

Every sale and restock is recorded as it happens, so the owner can see what the day was actually worth. Staff can sell and check stock, but they cannot see the owner’s figures.

03

What it does

  • Sell by tapping an item, and the stock adjusts itself.
  • Negotiated prices, within a range the owner sets for each item.
  • Deni (credit sales) with a dated repayment history.
  • Restocking that updates the average unit cost automatically.
  • Recurring expenses, which can be spread across the days they cover.
  • Reports for any date range, exportable to CSV.
04

Under the hood

  • Built with React and TypeScript on Supabase.
  • Sales and payments run as locked database transactions, so two phones on the same counter cannot overwrite each other.
  • Staff accounts can only be created by server-side functions.
05

Where it stands

Twenty-one shops use it to keep their books. The reports are also designed to serve as the paperwork for a micro-loan application.

Why it might matter to you

If your business still runs on a daybook or a spreadsheet, this shows what replacing it looks like.
